Maddy is 16 months

Our little Maddy is 16 months today - and my has she grown! Today was picture day at pre-school. Maddy got all dressed up - so Dustind decided he should as well! Maddison is saying a lot these days like; 'Maddison', 'Hi-guys', 'Dancing' and 'book'. She has started to sing along to her favourite songs and knows all of the motions to 'If you're happy and you know it...' and a few animal sounds. When Daddy comes home from work Maddy has takes after her brother and the two of them start from one end of the house and run all the way to the front door to jump into Daddy's arms. Maddy moved into the toddler room at pre-school - they have her practicing on the potty three times a day - we have already had one successful trip to the bathroom!
Meanwhile - Dustind started back to school this month. SK - back in Mrs's Eng's class and Strawberry Patch. Dustind love's school and is on his 4th reader already this month and comes home and tell's us all kinds of great things like 'Did you know today is the first day of fall?'

Terry Fox Run

Dustind saw all of the people start to run by our house and wondered what they were doing. We explained that it was the Terry Fox run and he decided that we had to join in! so Dustind and Mommy got on their running shoes and took off for the 5km run. The best part for Dustind was all of the water stations - one of them even gave him a freezie!

Way to go Dustind! We are proud of you!

Cute as a button..

2 p.m.
Joanna about to run off to her 5th meeting of the day, phone rings, recognize it as a Stouffville number and decides that maybe I should pick up

School: Mrs. Milroy?

Me: Yes

School: We don't want to worry you but we have Dustind with us and the principal is here and something has happened. Dustind has stuck a button up his nose and we can't figure out if it is still in there or not but he is uncomfortable.

Me: Is he o.k.?

School: Yes - the button may have come out but we felt that we should probably call you

Me: O.k. - tell Dustind we love him and that his mommy or daddy will be there soon

3 p.m.
Carl picks up Dustind and brings him to the hospital after mom call's around and can't get Dustind into a doctor

5:45 p.m.
Carl: We are on our way home

Me: Is Dustind o.k.- how did the get the button out?

Carl: He blew it out himself... we didn't even see the doctor

8 p.m.
Dustind: Mom?

Me: Yes Dustind

Dustind: Where is the button - I think that my teacher may want it back

Me: No Dustind - after it has been up your nose all afternoon I don't think that your teacher will want her button back.

Moral of the story: Tell your kids not to put buttons up their nose - no matter how appealing it may be. IF your kids stick a button up their nose then ask them repeatedly to blow their nose - chances are it will come out on its own.

And onto another exciting day in the Milroy house...

First Day of SK

Well - the first day of school is here again.

Before bed last night Dustind had a bath... washed his hair... asked for cream, baby powder and some of his Dad's deoderant so that he would smell good on his first day of school. He told me that he wanted to wear a dressy white top and dressy pants for his first day.

After breakfast he kept looking out the window to see if any kids were at the stop yet - he wanted to be the first one there. We got to the stop about 10 minutes early. Dustind was excited to see Simon and Blake - Simon is entering grade one this year and Blake JK. Blake is going to be in Dustind's class with Mrs. Eng.
Maddy managed to stay still long enough for a picture with her big brother

So excited for the first day of school.

Our mandatory shot from the front of the house!!

The boys waiting for the bus...

Once Dustind was on the bus - Mommy proceeded to follow the bus, get out and stand outside of the school yard fence with Dustind as he was lining up to go inside. Sniff... a bit easier saying goodbye this year than last year!

Hello tour boat

A visit to nana and papa's wouldn't be complete without rining the bell to say 'hello' to the tour boat.

And when I ring the bell, the tour boat always beeps his loud horn to say hello back to me!

After a busy afternoon swimming, going on the tube behind the boat (pics on papa's camera) and a delicious dinner. We were both super thirsty!

Mom and Dad then left me for a few days while I continued to have fun with Nana and Papa. Papa took me to the coffee shop every morningn for juice and a special treat. I went to St. Marie Amoung the Hurons with Nana, for a swim at Aunt Marnie's cottage, more swimming and boating at lake Couch and a few shopping trips with Nana and Papa. They didn't spoil me at all...
Thanks for a great couple of days - I had a great time!

Playing Dress up

Although we are not sure of the look maddy was going for... a tool belt, boots and bike helmet were all in the request to wear one Saturday a.m.
